Tradewinds Mexican Grill is a delightful casual dining spot built from shipping containers located directly opposite Cedar International School at Kingston, Tortola. As part of the recent retrofit that includes bold new painted murals, owners Marquese and Molly added an extra 20ft container to create a bar, “The Agave House”, with new drinks that feature tequilas from around the world. “Our new bar brings us back to where we started”, says Molly. “So we have come full circle.”

Some new food options have been added to the Mexican-Caribbean fusion menu, which prides itself on being homemade wherever possible. In what Molly calls “Tortola meets Mexico,” there are bold wings with wedges and flavours such as honey garlic, spicy tamarind, and spicy passionfruit. Mexican sandwiches called Tortas feature homemade signature coco bread made by the sister company Trellis Bay Market Bar & Grill, Chilaquiles, and “Chicharron with a Twist” using pork belly and a spiced Philippines-inspired vinegarette.
