CHIEF MINISTER TO PARTICIPATE IN WATCH HOUSE DEDICATION
Wednesday, July 11 – Chief Minister Honourable Dr. D. Orlando Smith is among other Government leaders scheduled to participate in a ceremony this afternoon for the official reopening of the recently reconstructed Watch House at Fahie Hill.

The Watch House, which stands as one of the Territory’s historical landmarks, once served as a central congregation and information sharing point for residents of Fahie Hill and adjoining neighbourhoods that include Great Mountain, Turnbull Hill, and Georges North Side. Government recently embarked on a project to restore the building, while honouring its historical linkages to the Territory’s past.

The Chief Minister said he is pleased that the project was successfully completed and Government is at the point where it is ready to formally rededicate the building.

“There is a lot of our Virgin Islands history within the walls of the Watch House. It will be a proud and auspicious moment when we reopen the reconstructed building and I encourage everyone and the residents of the Fifth District in particular, to witness this event,” said the Chief Minister.

An official ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4pm, and will also include participation by District 5 Representative the Honourable Delores Christopher.
