HON. OMAR HODGE VISITS CROWN LAND IN NORTH SOUND
Tuesday, September 18 – Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Honourable Omar W. Hodge, while on Virgin Gorda last week, made a site visit to the North Sound sub-division of crown land.
Hon. Hodge said that his visit to Virgin Gorda was to familiarise himself with crown property in the North Sound area and particularly those lots which were allocated to 35 first-time owners. He said once the road is completed, land owners will have access to their properties.
The Minister, who has the portfolio for lands, visited areas where the road is designated to be cut in the North Sound vicinity. Other areas visited included Gun Creek, the Bond, and areas surrounding the Robinson O’Neal Memorial Primary School.
The Ministry has resumed the processing of applications for persons who qualified for crown land in the North Sound area.
Executive Council awarded 53 grants of land to persons who fulfilled the requirements for crown land. These include persons who have built and occupied land for upwards of 20 years without title, persons who were previously recommended as well as new applicants for both residential and commercial use.
Accompanying the Minister on the site visit were Territorial At-Large Representative Honourable Irene Penn-O’Neal, and members of the Ministry’s staff.
Minister Hodge will soon begin meeting with residents when he holds regular office hours on Virgin Gorda at the Vanterpool wing of the Administration Building on Millionaire Road.
