The works are in keeping with Government’s road rehabilitation programme.

Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Elmore Stoutt said the area is prone to flooding and as a result it became imperative for the work to be carried out to remedy the situation before the rainy season begins.

“The drainage improvement will allow the surface water to run-off from the road efficiently easing the water build-up in the area when it rains.  Once the drainage work is completed, sidewalks will be re-erected in the area,” the Minister added.

“I understand the inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians because of the additional strain on traffic, however I am urging you to travel with caution in the area and to adhere to all traffic signs,” the Minister said.

The work, which began early this week, is expected to continue until the end of June. The contract was awarded to Messrs. Jason Fonseca and Chad Skelton for a combined cost of $54,475.21

The road rehabilitation programme is in keeping with Government’s Legislative Agenda to continuously improve road safety.
