Thomas knows the BVI – And he is putting that knowledge to good use as Sales Associate at BVI Sotheby’s International Realty. Published author, restaurateur, financial controller, ferry captain, general manager, number cruncher: Tom has worn many hats during his years in the Virgin Islands and his present hat is looking good on him.

An avid sailor and captain, Tom grew up on and around the water with his family, including his ex-Navy father. He spent his childhood years in Antigua, where he developed a life-long love for the Caribbean. In his career in the USVI and BVI, he has managed restaurants, small resorts, and a number of other businesses. He was also appointed as a NAMS marine surveyor for the Lloyd’s Agent of St. Thomas, Michael Hall.

Tom combines his business background with his love of the islands to give his clients unique insights into life in the Virgin Islands. He has lived and worked with his wife and two sons on many of the islands in the BVI, and brings his extensive experience as a licensed captain to bear when describing the logistics of island life and construction.

For nine years Tom was Operations Manager on Norman Island, where the Warner family were the only inhabitants. Home to Pirate’s Bight, the largest restaurant in the BVI. Boats, engines, generators and equipment were all part of Tom’s daily routine. Here, Tom also honed his expertise as a diver, gardener, and sport fisherman.

Later, as the General Manager of Foxy’s on Jost van Dyke, Tom drew on his background to help the world-famous establishment recover from the active storm season of 2017 and thrive during the subsequent recovery. In his next position at Blunder Bay in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda, he worked closely with the development team, making financial projections and analyses that would attract investors. His efforts continue today as the exclusive agent for Blunder Bay Estates.

One of Tom’s hobbies is to promote sport-fishing in the Virgin Islands by helping to organise tournaments that attract fishers from as far away as Florida and Texas. These annual events showcase the beauty of the islands, the bounty of the sea, and are always conducted in a sustainable, catch-and-release format. Of course, visitors are invited to view a few villas while they’re here!

Through it all, Tom maintains an open-minded approach to understanding what makes things work. Whether doing an income analysis, understanding local weather patterns, or choosing the right crops for the soil, he has the knowledge that will simplify decision-making for any buyer.

His vast and varied experience gives him special insights into BVI real estate. He knows about the special attributes of Virgin Gorda, the central convenience of Tortola, and the quirky charms of Jost van Dyke and Great Camanoe because he has lived on them all, joined the communities, and forged relationships that can guide clients toward the real estate purchase of their dreams.

Tom never fails to bring his positive mindset to every client meeting and real estate transaction. It is his keen understanding of running a profitable business that enables him to see the financial potential and opportunities for improvement in any property purchase. His hands-on approach and strong communication skills make him the ideal realtor to guide you through the process of buying or selling property in the BVI.
