The Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park is an open-air shopping and dining facility spread across almost five acres in the heart of Road Town. It encompasses a 60 foot wide, 1,312 foot-long cruise ship pier that can berth ships up to a maximum tonnage of 180,000 GRT. Initially catering mainly to cruise passenger guests, it evolved to welcome charter and land-based guests, as well as local residents.
“After the hurricanes of 2017 and the COVID pandemic, had it not been for our local residents choosing to shop and dine at the Pier Park, many more of our tenants would have been severely challenged. Hence now we are very focused on the guest experience for all – whether that be cruise, charter, overnight or local residents” says Zoe Walcott, Deputy CEO.
Dining Experiences
Proving to be very successful are the immersive dining experiences that can be enjoyed by day visitors and those staying longer in the islands.
Authentic BVI cuisine is on the menu at Taste the BVI where guests can learn how to prepare local delicacies, using traditional BVI flavours and produce.
Coconut Lounge has introduced sizzling experiences where diners can cook their choice of protein on their own Lava Rock right at their table. A unique idea for a special celebration!
At Aromas Cigar & Martini Bar you can learn how to roll your own cigar to enjoy with a cocktail paired to complement your creation, all in the comfort of the air-conditioned lounge or the terrace with harbour views.
Botella is one of the Pier Park’s providers of fine wines and spirits and the home of the locally distilled BVI Gin and BVI Vodka. Call in for a hands-on demonstration of gin-making whilst sipping on a refreshing cocktail.
Crazy Coconuts sells coconut water served in the husk and offers local businesses the opportunity to place their own branding on the coconuts for events and incentives.
No mall would be complete without a food court and The Boardwalk was devised to bring diners to the Pier Park and create diverse gastronomical experiences. An array of cuisines including African, Asian, Jamaican and Spanish food, burgers, seafood and renowned mixologists to name a few. All served with an ocean view.
Shopping
Following on from the success of the dining experiences there are plans to curate new shopping experiences.
“Almost 90% of the businesses at the Pier Park carry locally made products or offer locally based services. This is a number that the Pier Park management team are very proud of. From the outset, there has always been the requirement to create products and experiences that are rooted in the BVI” says Zoe.
House of Luxury has created a luxury BVI-branded watch collection and BVI specific Pandora charms which make the perfect gift whatever the occasion.
On trend fashion features prominently at the Pier Park and with all tastes and budgets catered for. Check out Taino Boutique, Passions by UMI, Blanc du Nil, Tropical Tortola and La Boutique for women’s fashions for all occasions.
