Papaya Villa is set high in the hills above Long Bay at the western end of Tortola.
At the heart of the property is the great house with a large living space, indoor and outdoor dining/living areas and fully-quipped gourmet kitchen. Mealtimes can be enjoyed in the formal dining room or outside dining area overlooking the infinity edge pool. The patio area is equipped with an outdoor kitchen with both gas fired barbeque and pizza oven, as well as an Indonesian hand-crafted dining table set under a shaded pergola perfect for experiencing the outstanding Caribbean sunsets.
Vine Cottage, the large master suite, has a king-sized four-poster bed which looks out across the ocean and the neighbouring island of Jost van Dyke. The bathroom which features custom-made cabinetry has both indoor and outdoor showers. The well-equipped kitchenette and private veranda offer a private refuge away from the main house.
Two large bedrooms are situated adjacently at the heart of the estate. In one bedroom there is a four-poster king-sized bed with outdoor shower, the second bedroom has the convenience of two twin beds or king sized bed with an indoor shower. These bedrooms both open onto a porch overlooking the infinity pool and the ocean view.
The fourth bedroom across the landscaped courtyard of the property has two twin beds, a bathroom with rainfall shower and a kitchenette with refrigerator and coffee maker. All bedrooms can either be opened up to enjoy the sea breeze fully protected with mosquito screens or closed up completely to enjoy the air-conditioning for those important cool down periods after enjoying the Caribbean sun.
The panoramic ocean views are visible from all parts of the property. Over an acre of landscaped gardens full of colourful and fragrant Caribbean plants are home to hummingbirds who can frequently be seen enjoying their favourite firecracker plant. For younger visitors there are lots of places to explore both on the property, including the ‘castle keep’ area, the shaded and cool back garden complete with lawn and snoozing hammock.
The beautiful infinity edge pool overlooking the warm clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. The pool has a deeper and shallower stepped area to allow an additional place for guests to relax and admire the view, and also to allow kids a slightly shallower area of the pool. There is no better place to sip on a cocktail and watch for whales breaching in the bay below. For working off those sumptious barbeques, there is a swim current machine, which can be used for swimming laps or just for fun! The pool is heated, so can be used day and night, and is excellent for star-gazing as the property’s private location allows wonderful views of the clear night sky. Alternatively, star gaze from next to the outdoor fire pit on the patio area.
The area around Papaya Villa is quiet, set in the exclusive Long Bay Estate. You will only hear the sound of the ocean and breeze through the palms. Access to the facilities at the resort (2 minute drive) is available on request for a small additional fee.
Papaya Villa overlooks Long Bay beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on Tortola and can be reached in only two minutes by car.
