Boating Safety Week will be observed in the Territory from Sunday October 11 to Friday, 16 and the Virgin Islands Shipping Registry is inviting the public to participate in the planned activities. The week begins with a church service at the East End Methodist Church at 9 a.m. on Sunday 11, followed by an opening ceremony on Monday 12, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall. On Tuesday 13, the VISR will conduct a safety demonstration at that same venue and on Wednesday 14 a similar demonstration will be conducted at the Jost Van Dyke Primary School. The department will host an open house on Thursday 15 giving the public an opportunity to visit its officers and learn more about its work. The week culminates on Friday 16 with a safety fair and closing ceremony at the Noel Lloyd/Positive Action Movement Park, starting at 9:30 a.m.
