Charter Yacht Society: The 25th BVI Boat Show, Showcasing crewed charter yachts, the 25th Annual Charter Yacht Society Boat Show will take place November 8, 9 and 10 at Village Cay Marina. This year should see upwards of 70 yachts featured and more than 100 charter brokers come to inspect and familiarise themselves with the vessels.
Not a mere boat show, the CYS Show features luxuriously appointed crewed yachts, many with up to several crew members. The yachts come in many shapes, sizes and types: from traditional wooden sailing boats to tip-top motor yachts; monohulls to multihulls, able to accommodate up to 20 guests.
This is an opportunity for crews and owners to show off their yachts and their professionalism to the brokers who will be responsible for bringing in their business. Crews will vie for various awards, including Thursday's culinary competition and the daily Best Of Show judgings.
Brokers are expected from the United States, Canada, U.K., France and elsewhere. While the BVI Boat Show is not open to the public, those interested can certainly view the yachts. Boarding the yachts is strictly by invitation.
The Charter Yacht Society (CYS) is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1982 by a group of independent owners of crewed yachts. Its mission is to represent crewed yacht operators in the BVI in their dealings with each other and government, and to develop the crewed charter industry.
