After School Sailing Program
Dates: September 11h through December 12th (13 sessions)
*no program the 16th and 17th of October
Times: 3:30pm- 5:30pm
Cost: $240
Tuesdays: Beginners/Novice: This course is designed for sailors with little or no previous sailing experience. Participants in this course will learn basic boat skills. Sailors use Optimist prams as well as Picos with one to two participants per boat. Ages 6-14 years old. 8 spaces available.
Wednesdays: Intermediate: This course is designed for sailors who have completed the beginner sailing level. This course builds on the techniques learned in the beginner and Novice class, with a focus on solidifying a strong skill base on the basic boat handling, as well as sailing theory. Sailors will primarily sail Optimist prams, Hobie Cats as well as Picos and Lasers, with one to three participants per boat. Ages 8-16. 8 spaces available.
Sailors must provide
– Junior Membership and waiver signed
– An approved PFD, (some may be available from RBVIYC)
– Drinking water
– Sunscreen
– Water footwear

After School Racing Program
Dates: September 13th through Dec 13th (13 sessions)
*no program the 16th and 17th of October
Times: 3:30pm- DUSK
Cost: $260
Thursdays: Advanced: For sailors who have racing background, and wish to learn more about racing. These sessions will build on the techniques learned in previous classes with an emphasis on race skills, rules, and boat speed. Optimist and Lasers will be welcome. Sailors who wish to compete for team BVI in local and international competitions must be present. Space available to BVI team members, as well as to sailors who will be competing in local and international events. NOTE: Sailors who wish to attend are expected to compete in 2 BVI events a year, as well as 1 international event.
Sailors must provide
– Junior Membership and waiver signed
– An approved PFD, (some may be available from RBVIYC)
– Drinking water
– Sunscreen
– Watch with start and stop timer
-Appropriate racing gear (hikers, booties, etc.)

Adult Sailing Program
Dates: Saturday & Sundays
Location: Nanny Cay (next to fuel dock)
Times: 10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm
General Information: Our Adult Learn to Sail Program introduces new skill aboard IC24 sailboats. These 24 foot long sailboats provide a stable, dry platform on which to learn or enhance your skills. We have restructured our program this year to make it easier for you to schedule your participation.
Intro To Sailing: This course introduces the sailor to the IC24. Basic boat handling, rigging, docking and other skills required to ensure confidence on the water will be taught. The course will consist of 6 hours of on the water, hands on training. (2 Sessions) Cost: $75
Learn to Cruise: The Learn to Cruise program will build on the skills learned in the Introduction to Sailing course. In addition to improving boat-handling basics (rigging, steering, points of sail, tacking, gybing and sail trim), participants will learn anchoring, mooring, man overboard, basic navigation and heaving-to. (4 Sessions) Cost: $120
Learn To Race: This course is designed for sailors who have done the Intro to Sailing, or the Learn to Cruise and want to get a better understanding of sailboat racing. The course will touch upon reading wind shifts, boat on boat tactics, as well as starting techniques and race preparation. The course will finish with a Friday night IC24 race. Cost: $150

Weekend Racing Program
Dates: September through Dec
Times: Saturday’s 1pm-5pm, Sundays 10am- 2pm (Sunday Regatta Series)
Cost: Saturdays: $30 per day, Sundays $10 Registration
Saturdays: Advanced: For sailors who have racing background, and wish to learn more about racing. These sessions will build on the techniques learned in previous classes with an emphasis on race skills, rules, and boat speed. Optimist and Lasers will be welcome. Sailors who wish to compete for team BVI in local and international competitions must be present. Space available to BVI team members, as well as to sailors who will be competing in local and international events.
Sundays: Regatta: For sailors who have racing background, and wish to do more racing. These regattas will keep your racing skills sharp for many upcoming events. Optimist and Lasers will be welcome. Regatta day is open to all sailors. The scores will be kept over the year, and used to determine overall winners. Prizes will be awarded for top 3 finishers. These results will not be used for selection for sending BVI sailors to limited entry events, however if you wish to attend it is strongly encouraged to be present on regatta day.
