RECONSTRUCION OF CARROT BAY BRIDGE BEGINS TODAY

Thursday, June 21 – A project to demolish the old Carrot Bay bridge and build a new one in its place began today.

The project is in keeping with Government’s mandate to improve road safety in the Territory.

The Ministry of Communications and Works awarded two petty contracts for the project. One is to D&B Trucking for $12,219 to demolish the bridge, and the other is to Mr. Kelvin Dawson for $68,918 to construct the new bridge.  The work is expected to end in August.

Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Elmore Stoutt said strengthening the Territory’s infrastructure is a priority of the government and he is pleased that the Carrot Bay Bridge is being reconstructed. The construction of the new bridge will ensure the safety of residents in Carrot Bay as well as visitors to the village.

“During the course of the work, motorists and pedestrians are advised to use the alternate bypass road adjacent to the bridge and to adhere to all road, traffic and diversion signs,” the Minister added.
