Rules for Cruising (A Random Selection):

Rule #1:  Water lasts in inverse proportion to the amount of hair on the boat. Teenaged girls aboard? Lasts even less

Rule #2:  If you think it might be time to reef, it's probably too late.  But do it anyway.

Rule #3:  Every line needs a stopper knot.

Rule # 3:  Pump the head twice as many times as you think is necessary.

Rule #4:  Running lights don't increase your safety when at anchor or attached to a mooring ball.

Rule #5:  An anchor light is required when at anchor or on a mooring ball.

Rule # 6:  Nobody enforces any rules (well, hardly ever).

Rule #7:  If you leave a hatch open and go ashore, it will definitely rain.

Rule #8:  Breeze Boosters are for breezes, not for stiff winds.

Rule #9:  You need a bridle when attached to a mooring ball.

Rule #10: If you're motoring in a mooring field, anchorage or marina, you're going too fast.

Rule #11: When in doubt, squirt it with WD40.

Rule #12: When hailing  on VHF, there's no need to say “Sailing Vessel Titanic”. Just good old Titanic will do.
